About the Project

After my work on the redesign of the Cultivate Safety website, I was asked by parent institute Marshfield Clinic to work with their team to design a more accessible 508 compliant interface for their ‘Safer Farms’ web app suite.

The basic app functions had been developed on the ASP.NET framework but little thought had been put into structure, accessibility or usability at that time.

First I mapped out all functions and developed a user journey for each. Working with their in house team a structure was proposed which I then wireframed for approval by their usability team. This formed the basis for the development of the new accessible UI (User Interface). Designed for use by representatives out in the field, the UI had to work equally well across devices from desktop to mobile. A mobile first approach was used and then scaled to take advantage of larger screens if available.

The result was an accessible interface that followed their new brand guidelines and allowed the completing of complex tasks as quickly and easily as possible.
